Pat Axe  is a Guitar player, singer, songwriter, and interpreter of song .

Pat started playing guitar at 14. He took music lessons at neighbourhood music store. He also took bass, guitar and piano lessons at 17 before getting serious about guitar. That was the instrument that truly spoke to him.  He studied the Segovia approach with teacher was Eugene Martnec at Ring Music. For a solid year he practicing endlessly, focussed entirely becoming proficient on guitar.  Pat's Influences include  The  Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Santana, Bob Marley, Ska Music, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams. 

Pat started busking with a friend and musical partner on Toronto’s legendary Yonge Street in the summers of 1979 and 80 and then joined reggae band Burning Desire in 1981, which propelled him from the familiar stomping grounds and local scene into the surrounding areas around southern Ontario.  From Burning Desire sprung the reggae/rock/ska band 2 Pulse 3.  During this time, Pat began writing and performing original songs. The blues took over his playing more and  more and Pat continued to play around the southern Ontario circuit and Toronto’s club scene in rooms such as The Horseshoe, Isabella Hotel, Black Swan, El Mocambo Black Bull, Rivoli and Cameron House.  Pat eventually joined SingSing with Crash Morgan and played around Toronto showcasing at the Black Music Association where they were inducted as honorary members at the Rivoli on Queen Street by RZee Jackson.

In October 1993, he moved to BC to be involved with various west-coast musical projects. The move offered the opportunity to play on an album with Ernest Lee and Cotton Traffic, produced by Doug Johnson of Loverboy.  Pat recorded a CD in 2013 that consisted of all original songs, that release is currently distributed through CD Baby and is available on iTunes, Spotify, and most digital streaming platforms.

Pat also co-wrote some songs and recorded with Ani Kyd. The Ani Kyd project performed some showcases and submitted the recordings to Alligator Records - which resulted in a personal letter from Bruce Iglauer with very kind words about his guitar playing and smooth slide work. at is also a founding member of  popular Vancouver band Rhythm Street.

As well as music, Pat has always been very interested in the visual arts and has been painting since he was very young with plans of combining music and canvas into one presentation. His painting  style is influenced by Andy Warhol, Peter Max, beloved childhood cartoons, as well as album covers from the 60’s and 70’s, the impressionist movement, and Group of Seven. 

Pat is currently writing and gathering new material, looking forward to recording, and more live performances He hopes tp combine painting and his music to make more wonderful audio-visual occasions.
